Yelagiri Hill is one of the hill resorts of Tamil Nadu. Situated amidst four mountains in a serene atmosphere, Tribal people live in villages in these hills. The hairpin bends offer panoramic, breath taking views of the hills and its surroundings. The seventh bend is significant, since it offer the view of the slopes of the mountain and the green forests that carpet the hill. Yelagiri Hills cover a total area 30.1 sq kms and an altitude of about 3500 feet from Sea level. Therefore, the climate is rather moderate, and an evening might be a bit chilly considering that the hills have a large amount of forest cover |
The main attraction of Yelagiri hills is to enjoy boating in beautiful and smallish artificial lake famous as Punganoor Lake. You can choose between a rowboat and a pedal boat to enjoy the scenic beauty in and around the lake. There is a Mughal Garden around the lake,
Velvan Temple is other main and famous site of Yelagiri hills. Velvan temple is totally dedicated to Lord Murugan situated atop a hillock, with a giant statue of Gadothgajan in front. In months of July-August local festivals are calibrated here that provides a colorful glimpse of the rich culture of the region.
Yelagiri is Swamimalai Hill at 4,338 ft. It would be a great fun to climb on hilltop as it provides you a breathtaking view of the valley from the top. This hill has some of the beautiful trekking routes through dense forests.
